Vila Real Municipal Theatre

O Vila Real Theatre has multiple characteristics that allow the daily presentation of big dimension and quality spectacles, which contributes in a large scale to the enlargement of local cultural life.

The complex is formed by the Big Auditorium (500 seating capacity), Small Auditorium (150 seating capacity), Exterior Auditorium (700 seating capacity), Foyer, Sound and Image Museum, Exposition Room, Art Studio, Gallery-Bar, Coffee-Concerto, wide open gardens and two parking lots.

The theatre offers a vast program in plays, dance, music, circus arts and exhibitions domains. Besides that, it also co-produces other spectacles, with the support of regional, national and international entities.

Closed due to a restructuring process since 2002, Torre de Moncorvo Cine-Theatre reopened the doors to the public in March 2005, welcoming the visitors as a new, modern and versatile place.

Torre de Moncorvo Cine-Theatre offers nowadays an auditorium with a 289 seating capacity and a cafeteria. The reorganization process also allowed the recovering of the adjacent garden.

The structure was raised in 1727, with the main purpose of being a Hospital. The construction was reduced into ashes due to a fire in the following year, and in 1924 the place was bought by José Ribeiro Conceição, in order to erect the Theatre with the same name.

Having its closed since 1987, the process of rehabilitation and modernization of the biggest show room in Douro started in 2005. Three years later, the Theatre reopened its doors, with a renewed place and offer.

The front of the building and the inside decoration, both inspired in the Italian theatre rooms architecture, were carefully preserved and this is, nowadays, one of the most important places of Douro artistic patrimony. The theatre was gifted with modern audiovisual and sound equipment and has 417 seated places.

Opened since November 2003, the Municipal Auditorium of Santa Marta de Penaguião presents itself as a polyvalent space. An exhibition Gallery joins to the main Amphitheater, with 216 seating capacity.

Located in the downtown area of the village, the Auditorium has a sonorous and audiovisual equipment fine tuned to nowadays needs and demands.
